Event Description

Catch the Light. Feel the Radiance. Celebrate Giordano! America’s original jazz dance company celebrates 60 years of boundary-expanding jazz dance! Join Giordano Dance Chicago for an evening of power, sensuality, and athleticism as they demonstrate how everything is better at 60. The evening features a world premiere by GDC’s newly-appointed Associate Artistic Director, Cesar G. Salinas. Set to a score by Medwyn Goodall, Mr. Salinas’ driving quintet captures the power of community through the unification of pulse and rhythm. For the first time in more than a decade, witness Tony Powell’s electrifying Impulse (2006) which the Chicago Tribune called “an exercise in edge-of-your seat danger and endurance.” Returning this season, too, is the fluid, contemporary Groove, in formed (2019) by international dancemaker Peter Chu. Audiences will be on their feet with the rousing, crowd-pleaser SOUL (2018) by So You Think You Can Dance choreographer, Ray Leeper, featuring music by Gladys Knight and the Pips, Al Green and Tina Turner!
