Promise: An Aerial Dance

Performance
Event Description

We are so excited to be re-staging our acclaimed full length ballet, “Promise” !

Promise is inspired by the novel "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck and features a cast of over 20 dancers. Choreographed by Winifred Haun in 2009, the work is based on three years of research and development into the women, images and psychological themes found in John Steinbeck’s novel about the Salinas Valley. Promise incorporates aerial straps with modern dance to tell a story of violence and redemption. The work features music by Maki Ishii, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Jolie Holland and Kanye West.

As a special treat, choreographer and stilt artist, Kristina Isabelle will open the Friday night performance, and the amazing Leopold Group will open the Saturday night performance.
