EKILI MUNDA|What Lies Within

November 8–10, 2018 • 7:30 p.m.

“...stunning, with virtuosic displays of endurance, vocal play, and extensive movement vocabularies.”

Unapologetic liberation. Authentic selves. Chicago to Kampala, and back again.

Chicago choreographer Vershawn Sanders-Ward met Uganda-based Jonas Byaruhanga in 2007 and the two artists have been in dialogue ever since. EKILI MUNDA|What Lies Withinpositions the body as a physical, spiritual, and social archive of cultural history that subconsciously informs personal identity. Created as part of the TransAtlantic Project, a long-term cultural exchange between Red Clay Dance Company and Keiga Dance Company, EKILI MUNDA|What Lies Withinis a visceral engagement with the African Diaspora.

Post Performance Conversation: Thursday, November 8
Pre Performance Talk: Friday, November 9 at 6:30 p.m.
