Event Description
Road to the Sky is an intimate evening of short dance works created by ten of Chicago’s celebrated choreographers.

The first production of the company’s 20th anniversary season sees the return of audience favorite from 2006, comedic harness duet “On Leash” by choreographer Nadia Oussenko. Artistic Director Chloe Jensen premieres two new works - a vertical pas de deux “Singularity” in which dancers Libby Westra and Dani Bitout are bound together by a single looped aerial silk and “Entanglement” a group work with four aerial silks sparked from reading quantum
entanglement theories. Associate Director Karen Fisher Doyle presents “I’ll Be Seeing You” a lighthearted aerial hoop duet set to 1940’s music and Resident Choreographer Tracy Von Kaenel unleashes her fast paced full company work “Connected” in passionate response to the current cell phone addiction of modern life.

Esteemed choreographers of the Chicago dance community join as special guest artists for this program. Ted Seymour explores an angular, fast paced trio with aerial silks, Braeden Barnes rides the waves of a charged relationship in his new harness duet “Duality” and Lauren Reed speaks ideas into existence with a kaleidoscopic use of free barres in her poetic new choreography “Holy.” Also featured on the program are new works by Jessica Miller Tomlinson, Taylor Mitchell and Hannah Brictson.

AERIAL DANCE CHICAGO is a contemporary dance company in flight, founded in 1999 and guided by the original creative vision of Chloe Jensen. One of the world’s first dance companies dedicated to exploration of choreography on both a horizontal and vertical dance floor, ADC is a pioneer and a leader in the international dance community. The company's work has been presented across the United States at theaters, museums, schools, universities and festivals, including favorite hometown venues such as Navy Pier and Millennium Park. In 2014, ADC opened Chicago’s premiere dance center dedicated to the fine art of dance in flight. As ADC moves forward, creating, performing and teaching, company artists continue to redefine human movement potential and transcend the assumed limits of dance.
