46th Annual Shubukai Recital

Event Type
Performance
Event Description

“Shubukai has presented and taught Fujima style Japanese classical dance for the past 45 years. This Spring we resumed live performances and educational outreach programs including Revitalizing Tradition XV at  Northern Illinois University’s  World Music Festival and the inaugural Hanami Festival at the Garden of the Phoenix. This summer, we are collaborating with the Chicago Park District and the Japanese Culture Center providing classes for the community to participate in the Chicago Bon Fest, as well as participating in Chicago’s “Year of Dance” and also dancing at Navy Pier’s “Wave Wall Moves” Series. The highlight of our performances every year is the annual recital of Shubukai. Now in its 46th consecutive year, we are excited to return to live performance at the Ruth Page Arts Center this September. “
