Hedwig Dances has curated the perfect Winter Weekly Dancer Training series with incredible instructors on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays running February 6 - April 6. Monday and Wednesday classes run 9 am until 10:15 am. Thursday classes run 11:15am - 12:15 pm. Attend as many or as few classes as your schedule allows. Individual classes are $15. Bundles of 9 classes are available for $120 - a $15 savings, getting you 9 classes for the cost of 8!

CLASSES OFFERED

Mondays - Contemporary/Modern for advanced dancers with our own Rigo Saura – 9 until 10:15am

Wednesdays - Ballet for advanced dancers with Meredith Dincolo or Birute Barodicaite – 9 until 10:15am

Thursdays - Pilates for all levels with Julie Schiller Daly or Marta DeSanto of Pilate Practice Chicago – 11:15 – 12:15 am

All registrants are required to provide proof of Covid Vaccination at their first class and a  WAIVER of LIABILITY & CERTIFICATES, which may be downloaded from our website, printed and completed.  OR, an ELECTRONIC WAIVER will also be sent to you after you register which you may digitally sign and submit in lieu of the printed form.  The waiver must be signed prior to attending class. 

ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTORS and CLASS

CONTEMPORARY/MODERN on MONDAYS | 9 until 10:15am | RIGOBERTO SAURA (he/him) is a professional dancer, professor and choreographer. He graduated from the National School of Art in Havana, Cuba. Former soloist with both Danza Contemporánea of Cuba, and the Classic Cast in the National Ballet of Ecuador. He also served as Resident Choreographer in Ecuador’s Urban Ballet, and as Composition Master in the Metropolitan School of Art, Ecuador. Since moving to Chicago, he’s served as instructor and choreographer at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, and guest artist/instructor for the Professional Program at The Hubbard Street Dance Company, Ruth Page Civic Ballet, and guest artist/instructor at Visceral Dance Chicago and Visceral Dance Center. In 2021 he was named the winner of the Chicago DanceMakers Forum Production Residency at Ruth Page Center for the Arts. He became a member of the Hedwig Dances company in 2017 as dancer, choreographer and instructor.

BALLET ON WEDNESDAYS | 9 until 10:15am |will either be taught by instructors Meredith Dincol0 (February 8 and April 8) or Birute Barodicaite (February 15, 22; Mar 1, 8, 15, 22, 29), instructing you on the ballet techniques that will supplement your dancing and improve your overall technique, coordination, body awareness, and musicality.

BIRUTE BARODICAITE trained in Chicago with Richard Ellis, Christine DuBoulay, and Larry Long. Ms. Barodicaite danced with the Chicago Ballet, touring throughout France, Austria, and Germany. Ms. Barodicaite has staged Ruth Page’s Nutcracker, Con Spirito by Jim Clouser, for Chicago Ballet. In addition to teaching for the Ruth Page Foundation School of Dance for many years, she has taught in Lithuania for Lithuanian National Ballet, Ballet Moscow in Idaho, and Chattanooga Ballet. She is the ballet mistress for Civic Ballet of Chicago, the official youth training company of the Ruth Page Foundation School of Dance, and has been a guest teacher for the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and Grand Rapids Ballet.
MEREDITH DINCOLO has been dancing and teaching professionally for the past 27 years, having begun her professional career as a free-lance dancer in Chicago in 1993. In the years following, Ms. Dincolo pursued project work both in Chicago and abroad, and joined Hubbard Street Dance Chicago as a full company member in 1996. During her nearly 14 years with the company, Meredith performed and created works with choreographers and artists from around the world. Between 2000-2004, Meredith danced in Europe with Lyon Opera Ballet (direction, Yorgos Loukos) and Nationaltheater Mannheim (direction, Kevin O’Day) before returning to Hubbard Street in late 2004. Most recently, Meredith performed with Robyn Mineko Williams and Artists in the premiere of Echo Mine, a full evening collaboration with the band Califone.

PILATES on THURSDAYS – PILATE PRACTICE CHICAGO – Julie Schiller Daly and Marta DeSanto will alternate in the instruction of this classic exercise methodology long preferred by dancers as its designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture, and enhance mental awareness.

JULIE SCHILLER DALY, Founder, has been a certified instructor of Romana’s Pilates™ and True Pilates of New York™ since 1995. After receiving a BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois Champaign she danced professionally in New York and Chicago. Julie has been a faculty member at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts since 1994. She continues to study Pilates and the mechanics of the human body.
MARTA DESANTO, Instructor, has been certified since 2000 through Romana’s Pilates and True Pilates of New York. She has had a life long passion for health and fitness, with a solid commitment to enhance the Joseph Pilates legacy. Avid golfer, swimmer and runner. A dedicated teacher to fitness enthusiasts of all levels. She is bi-lingual and received her BAS from Northeastern University.
