Overview

On December 9, 1889, President Benjamin Harrison addressed a crowd of several thousand Chicagoans who had gathered to celebrate the grand opening of what is now known as the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University. A structure without equal. The sweeping walls, the soaring ceiling, the gilt-edged grandeur... and of course, the stage itself. Over the years, legends have been born and made on our stage. Its wings and floor have been graced by former presidents, renowned opera singers, legendary rock stars, and prima ballerinas. We live this history. Join us.

Widely considered Chicago's best venue for dance, The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University is committed to offering the finest in international, cultural and community programming to Chicago, and to the continued restoration and preservation of our National Historic Landmark building. Designed and constructed by famed architects Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan, the theatre has been a mainstay of Chicago architecture and theatre since 1889. For 125 years, the Auditorium Theatre has adapted and grown, but has always remained dedicated to providing the highest quality of artistic experiences while preserving the storied principles upon which; it was founded.
