We teach modern and classical middle eastern dance AKA bellydance, alongside the folkloric dances of the region. Contemporary bellydance is a blend of western style classical technique and traditional folkloric dances from Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Turkey, and many other eastern countries.
It is extremely important to understand the cultural significance of this dance, you cannot extricate the steps from the rhythms and the nations it comes from. Therefore, in class Sherihan tries to provide as much context as she can so that you aren't just learning footwork, you are also learning some history, musicality, and language while you sweat!
There is metered street parking available, and Macy's has a valet on Randolph that will take your car (aproximately $16). We recommend downloading spot hero and finding a good parking deal that way as there are multiple garages in the area as well.
Public transportation is much easier, The Redline has stops at Lake St. as well as Monroe. The Blueline Washington stop is really close as well.
