Event Description

The word community is often defined as the feeling of fellowship you have when sharing things in common with others. That is the idea behind the Old Town School Community Choreographer’s Festival as well. For this festival we want to bring creative movers from all aspects of Chicago’s very diverse dance scene together for a night of learning, expression, joy, and connection with each other. Community will be a multidisciplinary show and we encourage artists of all backgrounds to apply. This is a great opportunity to get your work produced on a professional stage, inside our black box space “Szold Hall”, whether you are an established company or an emerging artist. We are seeking 10-15 artists and this is a PAID event. There is NO submission fee assorciated with the event.

Old Town School of Folk Music has a decades-long history of dance going hand-in-hand with music, and offers classes, concerts, and outreach programs across many disciplines throughout the Chicagoland area. Our education program currently offers classes ranging over almost 20 genres, six days a week to over 300 students.
