Visceral Dance Center seeks a dynamic part-time piano accompanist to play for the Saturday Beginner/Intermediate Ballet class (10-11:30am) and Pointe Variations (11:30-1pm). Substitute opportunities for other classes available as needed. The ideal candidate will be a specialist in the field and have extensive training in accompanying ballet classes. Diverse repertoire and ability to modulate tempo is required.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the teacher, provide piano accompaniment that enhances and supports the rhythmic and qualitative characteristics of class material
- Play a variety of musical styles, improvising and/or sight reading (We do not provide sheet music)
- Be punctual and reliable to attend scheduled classes, flexible to substitute as needed
kills & Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience accompanying a ballet class in a professional setting preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills
- Ability to take direction well
